Three Reviews in Raging Smolder Music Review - May 1999 Adam West: Vanilla b/w The Candy Snatchers: Picture My Face (Fandango, 1805 T St. NW #A, Washington, DC 20009) Adam West's "Vanilla" is a punk, garage, energized, passionate rock-n-roll explosion! Words: "A face like an angel / a face that won't leave me alone / You bust through the line / and you check me / when I'm on the phone." Fine performance! The flip features The Candy Snatchers' version of the Teenage Head classic "Picture My Face," a punky vitriolic rock-n-roll outburst which reminds the listener of garage-band kings (queens?) The New York Dolls. Brilliant! Raging Smolder Music Review (RSMR) online: http://avmcyber.com/rsmr/rev018.html Both songs have made the current edition of the RSMR Stealth Top Ten! Adam West: SWLABR b/w The BellRays: Nights in Venice (Fandango, 1805 T St. NW #A, Washington, DC 20009) Remember Eric Clapton's 1960s mega group Cream? Well, Adam West delivers an excellent garage-band rendition of their hit "SWLABR"! The flip of this single features The BellRays performing the Saints' "Nights in Venice," a fun little punky rocker -- urgent, frenzied, impassioned! Great single! Raging Smolder Music Review (RSMR) online: http://avmcyber.com/rsmr/rev019.html Adam West: 13 de luxe (Fandango, 1805 T St. NW #A, Washington, DC 20009) Full-bodied turbo-charged American rock-n-roll, with a pervasive punky thrashy metallic garage band ethos thru-out -- emotionally uncompromising and non-apologetic -- dealing primarily with the troublesome confusion of romantic intrigue! [See RSMR #18 & RSMR #19 for more Adam West.] From "Vanilla": "A face like an angel, a face that won't leave me alone ..." From "Something Wicked": "I tried to fight the boredom. I fought the best I could. I hated everything around me and it never brought me any good." From "Doomsday": "When you hit me with those lies and you left me by the side of the road ... I felt guilty deep inside." From "Done Me Wrong": "All I know is I'm left with nothing, and why do I look like I stepped in something?" From "For All I Care": "Half my life I've been in love with you, and all that time you've kept me down."
