Ottobar, Baltimore, 9/24/99 gig Review
ADAM WEST at the OTTO BAR with TWIN SIX, MUD CITY MANGLERS, SILVER TONGUED DEVIL
When I saw ADAM WEST at POPEFEST this summer, they bored the heck out of me.
Their songs were slow and long. The vocalist sounded like Danzig. Not my cup
of tea. But Friday night, they surprised me. They picked up the tempo and
the songs didn't drag on forever. But, the most memorable part of their set
was the dancing accompaniment. A fan in the audience with a cowboy hat tied
around his neck decided to do his own strange style of breakdancing at the
beginning of the first song. He was literally, down on the floor, writhing
around, flipping upside down, banging his head against a bench. The cowboy
hat was crushed, and the front floor area was cleared. At the end of the
song, he got up and kindly ushered half of the crowd back to the front.
Later, TWIN SIX rocked, as usual. The cowboy hat never recovered.
